So here it is. I know my sig says that I'm married, but the truth is, I'm only engaged at the moment. We *would* be married, but we have had other priorities that needed to be addressed first.
At the moment, we are presently looking at getting married on a beach in El Salvador, in Nov of this year. Why? Because it is relatively inexpensive, and more importantly, it allows next to zero input from our respective families.
What I'm wondering is if anybody else out there has been married out of country, or knows of anybody that has? If so, what were some of the "surprises" and hurdles that needed to be overcome? We are already aware of the basics, and are presently researching the local laws etc.
Any input you all might have would be appreciated.
Steve

I got married in Las Vegas. So very glad we did. We had five guests (my husbands sister and family who live in Arizona, his Mom and my Mom). I picked a package online and paid by visa. So much cheeper than those big weddings and we did it for us, not anyone else. You can't register the wedding in Ontario if it took place somewhere else but it is legal everywhere.
Good luck! Do what you want and don't worry about what anyone else wants.
