I think this is one of those topics that definitely has to be up to the parents. Myself personally, I am glad we never did that with Aiden. I mean sure from time to time if Aiden woke up at 4am and didn't want to go back to his crib, I would bring him in bed with us knowing that he would go back to sleep. And of course when they are sick it is a different story as well. but each to his own

Snuggling is about all I can take.. once those kiddies start moving off to bed they go.. My 2 are way too much like me and hog the bed.. poor Kevin would never see an inch of the bed if we co slept with our kids..
But I believe for our family the kids need to have their own room, beds, belongings.. a place to call their own at the end of a day to wind down and relax..we all need it..

My kids have slept in my bed on and off. Max will NEVER sleep a full night though. If he wakes up sick or something and crawls in, he stays about halfa and then goes back to his own bed. He LOVES his bed and finds it hard to sleep anywhere else. Ava could happily sleep in my bed all night, but I don't let her. I have before, she slept with me for about a year, but she sleeps in her own bed now. Its definitely parents choice

i think its a parents choice.. i did it with both my kids and wish i never did..my boys are almost 4 and 5 and they still sleep with us no matter what..it drives me mad most times..its really a bad habit. they wont start in my bed but sometime in the middle of the night they come crawling in.. poor mat half the time sleeps on the couch..lol but thats because he stays up all night playing vids and they beat him to the bed..lol and he wont move them so he goes to the couch..ah well, i will get back my bed sooner or later..i cant see a 12 year old sleeping with his parents..hahaha

My daughter still sleeps with us....she is 2 in January. We just had another baby so we bought a king size bed...the best thing we have done since having our daughter sleep with us...we finally get some sleep. We have her now sleeping in her own bed but she knows where to find us in the morning or in the middle night...With our new addition I think we will try our best for her to sleep in her crib...so far so good...I love the company but I do miss my husband.

The past 2 nights I have woken up to find Ava in my bed. I don't even hear her come in, she tiptoes I swear!!!!! I woke up this morning with Ava fast asleep on one side, snuggled right into me, and Max poking my eyes and up my nose on the other side. Darren had already left for work.

I definately think it is parents choice. Both my older girls(now 4 and 3) slept with us for the first year of there lives. I loved the closeness and the cuddles. They both then went into toddler beds and never had a problem. Now we have a six month old baby boy who sleeps with us, but he is completely different then our girls. He moves around alot already, is grabbing at me in the middle of the night. I think he will shortly be moving into his crib, because I am not getting any sleep at night and most nights hubby sleeps on the couch. It is going to be a challenge but in this case I am up for it. Anyone have any tips??

Where does he sleep for Naps? If he is all ready sleeping in the crib for naps I would just put him in his crib at bed time..there maybe a few sleepness nights so I would start on friday night when no one has to be at work the next day
Good Luck

I think tomorrow night is going to be long and loud. He does sleep in there for naps....sometimes. I'll be honest, not always. I put him in there for naptime and he babbles away and finally falls asleep. Night time comes and he stands at the end of the crib and screams. Wish me luck!!

Trystan co-slept with me as he was asthmatic and I swore that I would not do it with Erica but I went back to work early with Erica and hubby couldn't get her to sleep so he put her in bed with him!!!! I did have her sleeping in her own crib....Trystan now sleeps in his own bed, but Erica sleeps with me and hubby is on the couch as he snores way tooo loud.
