Well, Emma (my little girl) got Happy Feet for Easter. I have to say that I am very angry with the movie. I was SO looking forward to seeing this movie. All the singing, dancing, and Robin Williams... seemed like the perfect animated movie to me. Yes, I LOVE cartoons.
To be fair, it had everything I was hoping for. It started fairly slow and had a hard time keeping both mine and Emma's attention, but once it got rolling, it was "alright".
Here is where I get angry! I HATE pollitics and people preaching at me what I am to say or think. Happy Feet is directly geared to save the fish population in the oceans, stop over fishing of the oceans etc. It also goes out of it's way to give Zoo's a black eye.
Now, I agree that these issues are worthy of discussion and require action by the powers that be. What I DON'T agree with is getting forced to PAY for somebody else's opinion in a "bait and switch" type scenario. And I DONT like somebody else preprogramming my kid with their views. This is not a "happy movie".
I highly recommend that you borrow or rent this movie and watch it while the kids are asleep and decide whether this is something that you want to expose your children to. Happy Feet will be going up on a self in our house untill Emma is old enough to be able to talk with us about it and the views and opinions that they force upon the audience.

I looked past all that and just enjoyed the movie from a kids point of view. Honestly most of the younger kids would not really get any political message imbedded into a movie.
