Winnipeg's latest lotto millionaires say they don't plan to quit their jobs — but they are planning an extended trip to Disneyland with their five children.
Steve and Tina Gilbert won almost $4 million in a recent Lotto 6/49 draw.
Steve Gilbert bought a $1 scratch-and-win ticket at a gas bar a couple of months ago that won him a subscription to play the same numbers in another 26 draws.
He checked the latest subscription ticket last Wednesday with his wife after working his afternoon shift at a local Sobeys warehouse.
"'Honey, I think that we've got five numbers,'" he recalled saying, "And we looked and we had six."
"My son has an apartment upstairs … and I ran up there and he's only 19, and I told him and of course he didn't believe me. And he came running downstairs and he screamed as loud as I did," said Tina.
Steve and Tina, a home-care worker, say they do not plan to quit their jobs, but the win will make life easier for them and their five children.
"It's warm and fuzzy. It's hard to sleep, really, because everything is going through your mind," said Tina.
"We are just so happy ... We can give our kids what they need."
"And we can take our whole family to Disneyland for a month," Steve added.
Steve said he also wants to take Tina on a trip somewhere warm; he says she has never travelled by airplane.
